Tapejara in History
Tapejara fossils come from the Santana
cretaceous layers of Brazil and belong to the extremely specialized pterosaur species which
were discovered under these cretaceous layers. Dr. Peter Wellnhofer and A.
Kellner had described the unusual skull of Tapejara (the name means "the
old creature" in the language of the Tupi Indians). Additional parts
of the skeleton were discovered later which provided substantial
information about the wings and torso measurements. We thank Dr. Wellnhofer for scientific advice, drawings and study material provided.
Without his scientific support, it would have been impossible to develop
models with authentic shape. Dr. Wellnhofer is one of the world's famous
specialists in the field of pterosaur research. Our model needs a high
rate gyro system for yaw control or an added foil stabilizer at the tail.
